About the Authors
Catherine Palmiere
Catherine Palmiere is a teacher, author, and popular guest speaker at seminars and on TV. The President of her own staffing firm, Adam Personnel in New York City, Ms. Palmiere is now sharing the secrets of her success as a skills counselor and career coach in Unlocking the Door and in a new business, Palmiere Career Services. Ms. Palmiere, who took her B.S. and M.B.A. in Management at Manhattan College and teaches at New York's prestigious Grace Institute, says "It's time to start giving back by sharing my methods and skills."
Patrick O'Halloran
Patrick O'Halloran is a Professor at the School of Hospitality Management at the New York City College of Technology. His most recent book is Testimonies, a collection of poems on "life, death, and some place in between." O'Halloran earned his B.A. in Hospitality Labor Relations from The City University of New York and his M.A. in industrial labor relations from Baruch College. He points to Allen Freedman, a former City Tech Professor as his role model. Freedman said "Two people can have an influence on your life, a parent and a teacher."
The Buzz
The book, which is suitable for students of almost any age or educational background, is generating interest from metro New York high schools and colleges planning to use it in their curricula, among them Monroe College, Grace Institute and Culinary Academy of New York. Career-guidance bloggers, like Moms at Work, have noticed, too.
